Barcelona Unveiled: Your Ultimate Guide to the Heart of Catalonia

Barcelona is one of my favorite cities. It has the perfect mix of city, beach, culture and great food. I’ve been 3 times and every time it is a different experience. I recommend spending a couple of days in Barcelona then spending a couple of days on a nearby island. Here are my recs on what to do, eat and stay in Barcelona.

Restaurants

Bo de B Famous sandwich spot that lives up to the hype. Be prepared to wait in line and have cash.

Tapes Sant Miquel Easy walk-in tapas spot with a large patio to sit outside and in an easy to access location.

Bicos Restaurante My favorite restaurant in Barcelona. The scallop dish is phenomenal. A little outside the touristy area but worth it.

La Masala Cafe Cute cafe in a rustic setting. Perfect for breakfast

Cerveceria Catalana Great tapas spot that gets busy, so expect a wait. Known for their seafood and by lots of shopping

Cuines Santa Caterina Beautiful open restaurant located in Mercat de Santa Caterina

Gatsby Barcelona Fun spot for dinner or drinks and a show

Scallops at Bicos Restaurante

Where to Explore

Picasso Museum Easy museum that is worth checking out

La Sagrada Familia Absolutely breathtaking and a must do. Buy tickets in advance to avoid waiting in line or not being able to go if it sells out.

Mercado de La Boqueria The famous market. It gets busy, so get there early to actually be able to enjoy it

Mercat de Santa Caterina Smaller market that I found a lot more enjoyable since there were not a lot of tourists. The restaurant there is great as well.

Casa Batlló Worth checking out if you have time and want to do something different, but it should be pretty low on the list. Very touristy and nothing memorable except the visual experience at the end.

Ciutadella Park I recommend staying near this park, so you can enjoy waiting around before all the crowd.

The beach If you can make it to see the sunrise, it is worth it!
